FDA authority.

to the Conference Committee excluding the FTC

don’t believe FDA’s review has been comprehensive enough to move forward
with the approval process.”

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)
Introduced the
Freedom of Health Speech Act (H.R. 3394) that would require the
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prove that health claims are false before it
takes action to stop manufactures and marketers from making the claims.

Introduced the
Health Freedom Act (H.R.3395) that would prevent the FDA
from censoring truthful health claims.
Is a member of the Congressional Dietary Supplement Caucus.
Supported our efforts
against the FDA’s policy that restricted women’s access to
medications containing Estriol
.

An MD who is a longtime champion of health freedom and natural health.

Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO)
Introduced the
Free Speech about Science Act of 2010 (H.R. 4913) with Rep.
Chaffetz.
Is a member of the Congressional Dietary Supplement Caucus.


Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY)
Introduced the
Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act of 2009 (HR

1549) aimed at getting antibiotics out of animal feed.

Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA)
Coauthored a bipartisan letter
with Rep. Burton (R-IN) urging the FDA to require

We hope to make our case to Sen. McCain and work with him in the next

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
For
amending his Food Safety Accountability Act of 2010 (S. 3767) so that it is no
longer possible to use the bill’s language to send a supplement producer to jail

for ten years for citing legitimate science. The bill still needs further work. Leahy
supports our stand on some other important natural health issues.

Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL)
Sponsored the
FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S.510).

Requested the GAO Report to Congressional Requesters: Dietary Supplements
FDA Should Take Further Actions to Improve Oversight and Consumer
Understanding
.

Durbin is the principal supporter in the Senate of efforts to take away our
access to dietary supplements.

House of Representatives

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA)
Slipped
an anti-supplement measure into Wall Street “Reform” Bill (HR.
4173) through expansion of the powers of the Federal Trade Commission.
Waxman
could have limited the expanded powers to finance, but did not.
He is the principal supporter in the House of efforts to take away our access
to dietary supplements and has been chairman of the powerful Commerce
Committee, which oversees health matters.
