Media Research Center
From the Desk of:

steve,
In many ways, 2008 was a tumultuous year of elections, bailouts,
economic uncertainty and so much more. And through it all, the
Media Research Center found itself precisely where we needed
to be-in the eye of the liberal media storm-sifting through the
pieces, separating fact from fiction and bringing it to light
for all to see.
As the nation's leading, and most respected media watchdog group,
we are being looked upon not only to expose and neutralize
liberal media bias (something we've been doing for more than
21 years), but we are also carrying the banner for the
conservative voice so that it is heard in the media.
Keeping the conservative voice resonating is more important than
ever, but it's a challenge we readily accept with your help.
Thanks in large part to you, steve, and the strong proactive
nature of our grassroots team, we made vital inroads in our
efforts to expose and neutralize liberal media bias this past
year.
Here are just a few key MRC Action team highlights:
--175,000 petitions, faxes and emails blitzed the Network
Morning Shows demanding an end to blatant Election Bias.
--Key members of Congress including House Speaker
Nancy Pelosi received a daily deluge of more than
165,000 faxes and petitions, and untold thousands
of phone calls opposing a reinstatement of the
"Un-Fairness Doctrine."
--Just hours after CNN misquoted National Review,
seemingly attacking Sarah Palin, more than 13,230
team members flooded their headquarters with emails
and phone calls. To their credit, CNN quickly apologized,
admitting they "botched it."
The MRC Action team also took aggressive and immediate action against
TIME magazine after callously desecrating the iconic photo of the
Marines landing on Iwo Jima--in what I believe was one of the most
blatant examples of liberal media bias in their Global Warming issue.
In addition to compelling grassroots activity, MRC Action team
members helped us produce and distribute a number of eye-opening
special reports including "Obama's Margin of Victory: The Media"
and "Editing Reverend Wright's Wrongs" spotlighting and analyzing
the value of Obama's cozy relationship with a friendly media.
steve, I also want to thank you for getting the word
out about the MRC and helping to grow this incredibly
impactful grassroots team.
By forwarding our special updates and alerts, you made
more citizens aware of the liberal media's agenda, and
stirred many to join the cause to bring a new level of
accountability and responsibility to our nation's newsrooms!
Looking ahead to 2009, we anticipate many more opportunities to bring
the truth to light, and are grateful that you will be standing with us,
playing a pivotal role every step of the way.
On behalf of my dedicated staff at the MRC, thank you for making 2008
such a tremendous grassroots success!
May you and yours enjoy a wonderful Christmas Season!
