AFP Communications Director at Press Conference in San Diego

American’s For Prosperity California and a group of local Assembly District 75 voters called for Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher to do the job he was elected to do by showing up and voting, or go home, and allow someone else to serve this district. Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher has drawn attention for an extraordinary number of absences and “present” votes during important sessions including votes on pension reform that could have a direct impact on San Diego. Tuesday’s message came across loud and clear as constituents and AFP California called for Fletcher to step aside as an assemblyman to allow someone else to better serve the community.

AFP California Communications Director Jessica Headley joined activists in Assembly District 75. “We are not here to endorse or oppose any candidate for office. We are here to advocate for fair representation in the Assembly.” said Headley. “Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher’s record does not demonstrate to us and many of his constituents a responsible representation by him as the person elected to represent this district. Specifically, Fletcher’s record of attendance shows dozens of missed votes, and one voting opportunity on AB 1248 shows Nathan Fletcher voting “present” meaning neither for or against a valuable piece of pension reform legislation needed in the San Diego pension crisis.” She went on to state that “voters deserve a representative who will not put his responsibility to constituent’s aside when other ambitions come along.
Randy Berhurtz, who lives in the district, expressed his disappointment, calling attention to Fletcher’s decision to abandon promised support of the Regents Road Bridge. “We want an assemblyman to do his job, show up for the votes, and fulfill the promises he’s made. I just don’t think Fletcher’s doing that,” explained Berhurtz.
