SOUTH LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Firefighters responding to a small fire in South Los Angeles Monday night, discovered a body when they fully extinguished the flames.
The
Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned at 9:41PM on September 17, 2012 to the vicinity of
319 W 94th Street in South Los Angeles, where charred human remains were discovered in the roadway.
Beyond medical help, the person was declared dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. A positive identification, to include the person's age and gender, as well as the precise cause, time and manner of their death, will be determined by the
Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
The fire and circumstances surrounding the death remain the focus of a joint investigation by Los Angeles Police Detectives and Investigators from the Los Angeles Fire Department's Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section.
