AFP-FL applauds Governor Scott and Representative A. Miller for pushing for common sense health care reform, repeal of outdated certificate of need policy TALLAHASSEE – Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota (AFP-FL), the state’s leading grassroots advocacy*organization for free market health care form is applauding the efforts of freshman Representative Alex Miller (Sarasota) and the call by Governor Rick Scott to repeal the outdated health care policy certificate of need (CON). CON laws restrict access to quality care by restricting the building of health care facilities. “Repealing certificate of need laws is long overdue,” said state director, Chris Hudson. “Floridians’ access to quality care has been hampered by this burdensome restriction that has remained in place due to special interests’ focus on profits over patient outcomes. Repealing CON laws will lead to lowering health care costs and expending access to the care our Floridians deserve.” AFP-FL and its grassroots teams will deploy throughout the state to continue educating Floridians about the impact of the policies being discussed in Tallahassee throughout the upcoming legislative session. In 2016, AFP-FL knocked on over 1,000,000 doors and made over 3,000,000 phone calls to educate Floridians about policies ranging from health care to corporate welfare.
