Tainted drinking water may increase diabetes risk

Arsenic is used in herbicides and pesticides, but, back in the 19th century, it was the poisoner’s method of choice. In fact, it was used so often and so many people got away with it that it’s been called a “near perfect murder weapon.”

While most doctors today would recognize an acute case of arsenic poisoning — symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea and of course eventual death — long-term exposure to small amounts of arsenic has much more subtle effects.

What does this have to do with diabetes?

The answer comes from a study that compared the blood sugar levels of mice given small amounts of arsenic (about the amount found in drinking water) to the levels of mice with no arsenic exposure.

The ones who regularly drank those sub-toxic levels of arsenic had much higher blood sugar.

So, the researchers took the study a step further to try to figure out why it was happening. And it turns out that when you have even small amounts of arsenic in your body, it stops your pancreas from producing insulin which could lead to diabetes.

The World Health Organization estimates that millions of people around the world — including those living in the U.S. — are exposed to unsafe levels of arsenic contamination in their water supply. And you could be one of them!

That’s because the deadly poison is a naturally occurring element in soil and plants. And since it’s used to kill pests on crops, more and more of it leaches into groundwater on a daily basis, making its way into the drinking supply.

To top it off, even if the water you’re drinking is 100 percent pure, you’re still likely exposed to arsenic in your everyday life through the food you eat. Arsenic has been found in everything from apple juice and rice to wine, cereal, beef, pork and poultry.

How can you stop arsenic from destroying your body’s ability to control your blood sugar?

#1 — Limit your exposure

First, you want to do everything you can to ensure that you’re exposed to as little of the poison as possible. Limit the amount of major food sources of arsenic you consume — the biggest offenders being rice and apple juice.

Next, only drink filtered water to ensure as much arsenic as possible has been removed. According to the CDC, you should look for filters that use reverse osmosis, ultra-filtration, distillation or ion exchange to remove the arsenic from your water.

#2 — Detoxify

You’ve got to rid your body of the arsenic already in your system damaging your insulin secretion. Continue to promote the detoxification of the poison from your body.

If as Dr. J.H. Tilden says that toxemia, the accumulation of poison in the blood and body, is the cause of all disease, then the solution is to stop taking poisons like drugs and junk commercial foods into the body. Then make sure that we cooperate with nature and natural healing by purging toxemia.

This is indeed a simple and powerful way to take charge of your (our) own health. By flushing the body, we flush toxemia.

For this, I recommend taking the following supplements which are included in a unique mixture you can learn more about here. They are:

  • Milk thistle — An ancient liver-booster, milk thistle helps support the elimination of heavy metals (like arsenic), medication residue, environmental pollutants and alcohol so that your liver can work more efficiently.
  • Turmeric — An anti-inflammatory herb that helps protect your liver from oxidative stress and promotes healthy liver function. It supports the ability of your liver cells to identify and remove toxins from your bloodstream.
  • Selenium — This trace element helps promote detoxification and has been shown to rid your body of toxic heavy metals.
  • Schisandra — An ancient Chinese herb, schisandra promotes healthy liver function by activating enzymes in your liver cells that produce glutathione, your body’s master antioxidant that ensures rapid detoxification.
