11th Annual Justice Armand Arabian Leaders in Public Service Awards

The Encino Chamber of Commerce presented the 11th Anniversary of the “Justice Armand Arabian Leaders in Public Service Awards” on Thursday, October 7th 2010. The event honored seven leaders in public service who go above and beyond what is expected of them in order to serve the people in their community. The luncheon took place at the Hilton Woodland Hills, 6360 Canoga Avenue, Woodland Hills, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

“Karl Boeckmann, Rickey Gelb, and I established the awards eleven years ago to recognize and thank those leaders who have gone outside the scope of their duties to serve the community”, says Justice Armand Arabian. As part of his distinguished legal career, The Hon. Armand Arabian has served as a member of the Supreme Court of California from 1990-1996.

The 2010 honorees were:
  • Lee Kanon Alpert, Alpert Barr & Grant, APLC
  • Paul Anka, Entertainer and Songwriter
  • Pegi Matsuda, San Fernando Valley Business Journal
  • Nicolas Montano, Los Toros Mexican Restaurant
  • Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna, Entertainment Celebrities
  • Dennis P. Zine, Councilman Third District

Two students received Scholarships:
  • Marcus Hawkins-Dungey, 2010 Justice Armand Arabian Scholarship Recipient
  • Julia Elizabeth Pennick, 2010 Bill Littlefield Scholarship Recipient

Emcee for the program was Wink Martindale, well-known radio and television host. In addition to his involvement with many charitable causes, Wink has been presented with his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has also received the Game Show Congress’ “Ralph Edwards Award” for career community service.

Providence Health & Services was the Presenting Sponsor of the awards luncheon. Leaders in Public Service Sponsors included: Alpert, Barr & Grant Law Corporation; Fink & Steinberg, Attorneys at Law, ARMS Providers, Inc., Wells Fargo, Galpin Motors, Los Toros Restaurant, and the Gelb Group, a Family of Companies.

Community Service Sponsors included: Ross Baker Towing, Vista Automotive Family, Coldwell Banker, Moss Group, and Pride Collision Centers/Ford Auto Body.
