500 lunches served at Operation Gratitude
On 11/06/2011, the Chatsworth Kiwanis, Glendale Kiwanis, and Chatsworth Key Club joined at Operation Gratitude and served lunch and drink to around 500 volunteers. Operation Gratitude seeks to put a smile on a service member's face & express our nation's appreciation by sending care packages & letters personally addressed to U.S. Military deployed in harm's way, their children left behind and Wounded Warriors recovering in transition units.
Operation Gratitude Photos - (slideshow) 3 sec Operation Gratitude annually sends 100,000+ care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in harm's way, to their children left behind, and to Wounded Warriors recovering in transition units. Our mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member's face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people. Operation Gratitude receives the names of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines from commanders in the field who see the positive impact of care packages on their troops' morale. Each package contains donated product valued at ~$125 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. For safety and security, assembling of packages occurs at the Army National Guard armory in Van Nuys, California. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude has shipped more than 750,000 packages to American Military deployed overseas. Operation Gratitude is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, volunteer-based organization. opgratvolunteer@yahoo.com Volunteer at our facility 17330 Victory Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91406 818-909-0039 http://www.OperationGratitude.com Chatsworth Kiwanis is part of a worldwide organization of volunteers dedicated in providing positive change to one community, one child at a time.
