AFP Calls on Congress to Pursue Better Way on Infrastructure Funding

Arlington, VA –*Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today urged the U.S. Senate to reject transportation funding proposals that include raising the gasoline tax, which would disproportionately impact the people who can least afford it. Instead, AFP argues that Congress should address infrastructure needs by reducing wasteful spending and prioritizing infrastructure dollars where they’re needed most. AFP Vice President of Economic Opportunity Russ Latino issued the following statement: “The better way to fix our nation’s roads and bridges is for Congress to spend smarter.*Americans already pay billions of dollars to maintain roads and bridges, but they aren’t getting what they pay for because the federal government squanders it on unrelated projects and waste.
