I Guess The Mayans Missed It

12.20.12 10:01 PM

If youíre reading this, I guess the Mayans were wrong. Or maybe they were right and weíre still on the verge of the apocalypse. After all, itís still early Dec. 21 in some places, and the ďLong CountĒ Mayan calendar wasnít a clock.

But so far the poles havenít flipped, solar flares havenít wiped out electronics and aliens havenít arrived on a French mountainside to rescue people.

Around the world, belief that (or fear that) Dec. 21 would bring on some kind of apocalyptic scenario has people storing food and supplies and buying shelters. Ron Hubbard, a manufacturer of hi-tech underground survival shelters, says his business has exploded.

ďWe’ve gone from one a month to one a day,” he said. “I don’t have an opinion on the Mayan calendar but, when astrophysicists come to me, buy my shelters and tell me to be prepared for solar flares, radiation, EMPs (electromagnetic pulses) … I’m going underground on the 19th and coming out on the 23rd. It’s just in case anybody’s right.”

I have been telling you to prepare for disaster for many years, though not for any date-specific occurrence as much as for a natural disaster (like superstorm Sandy) or economic collapse, which will create chaos and turmoil and result in millions of sad and hungry (and dangerous) people.

So enjoy today. Celebrate that the Mayans missed it, just as they missed their own demise. Tomorrow, begin (if you havenít already) to prepare for the next storm to come. It may be a massive winter storm that leaves you without power for a week or two. It may be an earthquake. It may be a named storm, like Sandy or Hurricane Katrina. It may be an electromagnetic pulse weapon (EMP). Or it may be a bank run.

To be prepared, have cash on hand. Have food and water stored (for a week or more, at least), have gold and silver in your possession, and have weapons and ammunition at the ready. This will give you peace of mind.

And if aliens do arrive, send them my way. I donít want to be left behind, and Iíve got food for the trip toÖ wherever.
