So that’s what’s wrong with the country: According to a new poll from Gallup, six out of 10 Americans believe that increased redistribution of wealth would make the Nation a better place.
When asked the following question, 59 percent of respondents believed more wealth redistribution was needed in the U.S., while only 33 percent said current distribution of wealth is acceptable: “Do you feel that distribution of money and wealth in this country today is fair, or do you feel that the money and wealth in this country should be more evenly distributed among a larger percentage of the people?”
Unsurprisingly, the
poll results were skewed along Party lines with 83 percent of Democrats, 60 percent of independents and only 28 percent of Republicans calling for more redistribution of American wealth.
When asked whether the government should actively redistribute wealth via higher taxes on wealthy Americans, the gap narrowed, with 52 percent for and 45 percent against.
