Bill Clinton, Rand Paul Agree: No Reason For Talk About Hillary 2016

05.07.13 01:50 PM

Former President Bill Clinton said at the 2013 Fiscal Summit in Washington Tuesday that Americans should stop speculating about his wifes future political ambitions.

Clinton said that he didnt see any reason to believe Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, will run in the next Presidential election, quipping “Hillary hasn’t mentioned it to me, either.”

The former President said that now is no time for speculation about the 2016 election, as Americans are facing more pressing issues that need to be addressed.

[W]e need to be worried about the work at hand all of us do,” Clinton said. “So whoever the next president is has an easier set of choices before him or her to build America’s future.”

The idea of counting the former first lady, New York Senator and Secretary of State out when it comes to running for President probably sounds pretty good to Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.). He told an audience at a Missouri fundraiser last week that, after the Benghazi incident, Clinton should not be allowed to hold public office again.

I think her dereliction of duty and her lack of leadership should preclude her from holding any office, he said.

The Kentucky Senator added that Clinton admitted to not doing her job when she claimed the Benghazi cables expressing concern about a possible terror attack never came to her attention.

I dont think she should read every cable. *Maybe from Estonia and Bulgaria an assistant should read it, he said. But from one of the five most dangerous countries in the world, theres no excuse for her not reading the cables.
