Children Served Alcohol By Mistake

ROCHESTER, N.Y., (UPI) –* A New York state couple said they were upset to discover their young daughters had accidentally been served alcohol at a restaurant.

Jeremy and Dawn DeRoo said they went to the Bazil restaurant in Rochester for brunch Sunday and their three young daughters ordered orange juice, WHAM-TV, Rochester, reported Thursday.

The couple said their 7-year-old daughter thought the juice tasted weird, but they didn’t think too much about it until they heard someone at a nearby table remark that the juice tasted like mimosas — orange juice mixed with champagne.

The waitress apologized and replaced the children’s beverages with milk. However, the parents said they were upset the manager never came to their table to apologize.

They said the three girls slept away the afternoon and seemed hung over on Monday.

The DeRoos said police told them such mistakes sometimes happen. They said they want an apology from managers and assurance that steps will be taken to avoid future incidents.

Danny Daniele, the restaurant’s owner, said he was present Sunday but wasn’t made aware of the incident. He said he has sent an email to the DeRoos apologizing for the incident and offering to refund the meal.
