FAA Mulls Allowing Use Of Some Mobile Devices For Entire Flight
06.21.13 12:10 PM
WASHINGTON,* (UPI) –* Federal Aviation Administration officials say rules may be relaxed on turning off some personal electronic devices at the beginning and end of U.S. flights. Cellphones, tablets and similar devices currently must be turned off below 10,000 feet. New regulations being considered would allow passengers to use e-readers during an entire flight, NBC News reported Friday. Cellphones would still have to be turned off. In a statement, the agency said the proposed changes were based on suggestions from an advisory panel and recognition that “consumers are intensely interested in the use of personal electronics aboard aircraft.” The FAA has granted the panel a two-month extension to evaluate the safety of mobile devices before deciding what action to take. ![]() http://personalliberty.com/2013/06/2...entire-flight/ |
